#9 - THE POINEER'S SHOW - CORNBREAD-CHARMIN 65-WICKED GARY-BAMA Limited Edition (100) Catalog

$25.00

The 28 Page, Full Color, 6” x 6” Limited Edition Catalog (100) for “The Pioneer’s Show” featuring early graffiti writers from the mid 1960’s to early 1970’s - Cornbread, Charmin 65, Wicked Gary and BAMA curated by James Top at Village Works Gallery and Bookstore, February 4th to 17th, 2022. This catalog is a concise, but thorough history in text and samples of art works. Quotes by the artists provide real time context. The catalog explores the graffiti milestones of Cornbread as a “first writer”, as the person (in 1965) first known to tag his name for the purpose of repetitive exposure, not just to establish territory or mark one’s presence. Cornbread was also the first known in this history to go from marker to aerosol, making him a king of the art form. The inclusion of BAMA and Wicked Gary acknowledges the art form percolating in the east coast cities of New York and Philadelphia. Charmin 65’s inclusion, celebrates her immense talent and the historical step forward Charmin took, as the first know female to tag a train, with the modern intent of repetitive exposure. A limited edition of only 100, this publication is highly collectible. Cornbread will sign the catalog for anyone at the closing event, Thursday February 17th at Village Works. Text by Joseph Sheridan. Special thanks to Kurt Boone, Damian Bielak and Dominic Bielak.
