Artivism: Between Silence and Violence by Satoka Shibasaki
"Here we explore nine mediums utilized to conduct art-ivism. Each medium is accompanied by an artist (or group) as it's representitive, most whom are contemporary artists from the late 90s to the 2000s. We look into how creativity can sneak its way into traditional forms of protest, and blur the lines between violence and silence. We will seek to understand how these gestures reverberate through the social and environmental fabric of humanity, questioning what is acceptable vs what is unacceptable for individuals whom stand up against larger systems. It gives art the power to become a divergent tool for expressing collective motivations, emotions, and memories."
